The Arizona Business Assistance Center provides guidance for conducing business in the state of Arizona. A division of the Arizona Department of Commerce, the Business Assistance Center consist of three branches: the Arizona Business Connection, the Office of Minority/Women-Owned Business Services, and the Small Business Advocate.
- Arizona Business Connection
This office is a one-stop shop for licensing information for start-up and relocating businesses in Arizona. It is also a resource center for general information and referrals for every phase of business in Arizona. Business development representatives answer inquiries and prepare a free packet of information, mailed the same day.- Arizona Minority/Women-Owned Business Services
The Office of Minority/Women-Owned Business Services collaborates with various business organizations to promote entrepreneurship among minorities and women in Arizona. The office facilitates procurement opportunities for minority and women-owned businesses and advocates for issues that are important to these communities.- Small Business Advocate
The Arizona Small Business Advocate is responsible for keeping an open line of communication between the Governor and small businesses. The advocate works with chambers of commerce and other groups to develop policies and programs that will address fundamental statewide issues of concern to all small businesses. In addition, the advocate interacts with state regulatory agencies to improve their responsiveness to small businesses and assists entrepreneurs in resolving matters involving state government offices.

SELF promotes the self-sufficiency of low-income individuals, especially women and minorities, by encouraging the growth of micro-enterprise through training, technical assistance and access to credit. SELF is a private, non-profit organization supported by the City of Phoenix, local businesses and foundations. Components of the program designed to lead to self-sufficiency include a FREE orientation, a $15 Starting Your Business, a 3 hour, once a week, 4 week workshop, a $40 Business Plan Workshop, a 3 hour, once a week, 10 week workshop, and the Borrowers' Circle allowing individuals completing the educational programs to borrow between $200 to $5000 on a graduating scale ($10/loan + market based interest).Small Business Development Center
